CelloI really enjoy symphony orchestra concerts. Only recently have I begun to make a note of them here in the web log. Wish I could remember all of them from my very first (not sure when that was but I think it was the Philadelphia Orchestra in the 1970's.).
There are some concerts here that are not by symphonies, and there are others that do not appear here.

More of Music to Love Overture to L'italiana in Algeri by Rossini, Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor by Saint-Saens, Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven. Pauline Yang played the concerto like Horowitz. She is 16 years old.

"Marvelous Mozart - III " All MozartOverture to Cosi fan tutte, Concerto in A Major for Clarinet and Orchestra, Symphony No. 36 in C Major Stanley Drucker was nothing short of amazing. See story.

The Quartet was awesome.

Wagner, Rachmaninoff, Martucci, Respighi Features were Piano Concerto No. 1 performed by Emi Nakajima and The Pines of Rome by Respighi Words can not descirbe The Pines of Rome. Extraordinary.
    The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. Gilford, NH. August 18, 2002. Conducted by Keith Lockhart. An evening of broadway and Pop. Berstein, Chadwick, Copland, Gershwin and others. Briliant conducting by Lockhart. An outdoor concert with a very patriotic flavor.

Spartacus by Khachaturian. Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2. Incredible evening. Brilliant performance by all. Most complex piano piece I have ever heard. See reviews.
    Ridgefield Opera Company, March 22, 2002, The Ridgefield Playhouse Festival of Song Gala Opera singing from Mozart, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti, Puccini, et al. Great local performers.

Symphony #No. 1 in E-flat Major, Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, and Symphony No. 41 in C (The Jupiter) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Pianist Rui Shi is a rising young star from China. She is winning awards left and right around the world. Incredible Mozart concert. Performed at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Sold out attendance. Spectacular performance by all. See reviews.

    Kevin and Michael performed great melodies and harmonizing vocals. Mostly written by Kevin or Michael. Fantastic concert. Micahael played a carbon fiber cello in a couple of numbers.
    Marcus Roberts at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, New York, NY, April 6, 2001 Solo Piano by Marcus Roberts. He was introduced by Wynton Marsalis. Morton, Roberts, Waller, Noble, Ellington, Carmichael, Monk, Porter, and Gershwin. Incredible jazz improvization. Fantastic renditions. Amazing talent. It was spectacular.
    Stamford Syphony Pops, Stamford, Connecticut, March 31, 2001 Jazz It Up! with guest conductor Jeff Tyzik. One O'Clock Jump, Sophisticated Lady, Caravan, The Man I love, Miller Memories et al. Various including Glenn Miller music, Bernstein's Porty and Bess et al. Great concert. Superb guest performers including John Nyerges on piano, Jeff Campbell on bass, and Dave Mancini on drums.
    Jose Feliciano in Concert at the Opening Night of The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts. December 12, 2000 Wide assortment of light rock, spanish, and music composed by the performer. With Tyler McHugh, Keyboard, Tyger McNeal, Drums, Scott Breadman, Percussionist, and Kenny Owens, Bass. Jose Feliciano et al. Extraordinary talent. Incredible guitar work on both electric and acoustic. Brilliant execution as a group. Flawless.
    Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra - Ridgefield, Connecticut - December 4, 2000. Conducted by Sidney Rothstein. Fanfare from La Peri Paul Dukas Showed off the excellent brass section.
    Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 (Pastoral) Ludwig van Beethoven Showed off every section of the orchestra.
    Concerto for Violin in D Major, Op. 77. Guest soloist Elissa Lee Koljonen, violinist. Johannes Brahams Masterful job by Maestro Rothstein in perfectly blending the outstanding orchestra with the brilliant performance of Ms. Koljonen.
    Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra - Ridgefield, Connecticut - November 11, 2000 in conjunction with Marvin Stamm quartet. Conducted by Sidney Rothstein. RSO Goes Jazz Ellington, Bernstein, Copland, Kern, and more. Fantastic concert. Marvin Stamm (trumpet), Rufus Reid (bass), Bill Mays (piano), and Ed Soph (drums) were brilliant. Maestro Rothstein blended the orchestra and the Jazz quartet masterfully.

    Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Performed by Rui Shi. Chinese 16 year old girl. She was truly an outstanding performer to hear and charming to meet.

    Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18 Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) Performed by Santiago Rodriguez. World class artistry. Charming to meet. Second time I have heard him and met him. He is truly outstanding.
    Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) Brilliant.
