    His official title at IBM is vice president of Internet technology, but he says he also goes by "chief dreamer." In addition, Patrick chairs the Global Internet Project, an alliance of executives working to continue the development of online technologies.

    John Patrick is a 30-year veteran of IBM, where he has elevated to the position of VP of Internet technology. He is currently a driving force behind the company's backing of Linux, and he also created the alphaWorks Web site, IBM's online research and development laboratory. He is an active industry leader, being a founding member of the World Wide Web Consortium, a member of the International Center for Advanced Internet Development, and other groups.
